Furo-what? That's what I said when I first heard of it. And no it's not a type of sushi. Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese gift wrapping technique using cloth. This style of wrapping gifts is totally new to me, but I'm really liking it. It is a great way to wrap a gift for a friend who sews; it's like getting the main gift and a fabric gift all in one!
Today I'm sending you over to Chewing the Cud (blog) for a few furoshiki tutorials.
DIY-ers: Make your own cloths by using a 28 x 28 inch piece of fabric. For even more customization, use white fabric and draw your own design with fabric markers or paints.
BUY-ers: Stop by Chewing the Cud (shop) to stock up on a few wraps. Also, take a peek at their other inventory. They have some great totes and give bags.
Directions for more furoshiki wrapping techniques can be found here.
